3 Tips to Achieve Beautiful Wedding Photos

Roberta May

You want your wedding to go off without a hitch, to be perfect in every way possible—after all, it's your big day. The one thing you want after it's over, besides everyone to talk about it forever, is beautiful wedding photos that you can look back through over and over again. You want gorgeous wedding photos that you can hang on your walls, or sit on your desk for everyone to see. You need a great wedding photographer to start with, but there are other things you're going to need as well to achieve beautiful wedding photos. Read on for helpful information.

1. Put Cell Phones Away

Ask that your guests put their cell phones away and be in the moment at your wedding. The last thing you want to be captured in your wedding photo of you kissing your partner after saying "I do", is everyone in the photo with their cell phones out taking snapshots as well. Have a sign up for guests to see that says to put all cell phones away and not to take any photos of the ceremony. It will help your wedding photos look better, but it will allow your guests to take in the wedding through their own eyes, and not through the screen of their cell phones.

2. Remember the Photographer Is There for You

To help you achieve the photos you want on your big day, remember that the photographer is there for you, not to capture family photos of each and every one of your guests. Don't allow your guests to attempt to hijack your wedding photographer in an effort to get special snapshots of themselves. Your wedding photographer will capture images from your wedding and your reception of your guests, but not to take special images of families that are attending your wedding.

3. Don't Pay Attention to the Photographer

Sometimes the best images captured are the ones you didn't know were being taken at all. Try your best not to pay attention to the wedding photographer and just be yourself. You'll be surprised to find that your favorite picture is of you laughing at your wedding and having a great time, as opposed to the posed shot of you and your spouse next to your cake. Pay no attention to the shots being taken and just go with it.
